UX Philosophy

Designing for everyone

This portfolio was built with a strong belief: good design is design that works for everyone. Accessibility isn't an afterthought or a checklist, it's a core design principle that shapes every decision, from color choices to interaction patterns.

As a Product Designer, I believe inclusive design leads to better experiences for all users. Each accessibility feature implemented here reflects the same rigor I bring to every client project: empathy-driven, research-backed, and human-centered.

Keyboard Navigation

Every interactive element is fully accessible via keyboard, so users who can't or prefer not to use a mouse can navigate the entire site.

  • Skip-to-content link to jump directly to main content
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • Logical tab order through navigation, content, and forms

Screen Reader Support

Semantic HTML and ARIA attributes ensure screen readers can properly interpret and announce all content.

  • Proper landmark roles (navigation, main) for easy page orientation
  • Descriptive aria-labels on icon-only buttons (menu, theme, language)
  • Decorative icons marked with aria-hidden to reduce noise
  • Form inputs linked to labels with htmlFor/id associations

Color Contrast

Both light and dark themes are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast standards for text readability.

  • Dark and light themes with carefully calibrated contrast ratios
  • Semantic color tokens ensuring consistent theming
  • Visual indicators (lock icons, status dots) don't rely on color alone

Multilingual Support

The entire site is available in three languages, with the HTML lang attribute updating dynamically for assistive technologies.

  • Full translations in English, French, and German
  • Dynamic html lang attribute for correct pronunciation by screen readers

Responsive & Adaptive

The interface adapts seamlessly from mobile to desktop, ensuring equal access regardless of device.

  • Mobile-first responsive layout with collapsible navigation
  • Touch-friendly interactive targets (minimum 44x44px)
